ignite! a leadership symposium 2022

           Leadership Brownsville aims to cultivate and educate community members for our great city. 


          To celebrate the organization's 38th Anniversary we hosted

 Ignite!: A Leadership Symposium on October 10th at the Texas Southmost College Performing Arts Center. 


         Highlighting the event we had homegrown Brownsville native and 2022 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Dr. Juliet V. Garcia. followed by Award-Winning Golf Architect Augustine Pizá and Javier Prieto a recognized Leaderhip consultant, Founder and President of Selider, a national organization that promotes youth leadership in Mexico, and closing the event was Wall Street Journal Best-Selling author Carmine Gallo,


         Gallo, a communications guru, and Pizá, one of golf's hottest designers, have been featured in prominent publications such as FORBES, TIME and Sports Illustrated for their accomplishments and contributions in their respective fields. 

        

 We were so excited to bring our inaugural event to our community with the help and support of generous sponsors who believe in Brownsville and want to see our city rise to the next level.

    dR. jULIET v. gARCIA

    2022 Presidential Medal of Freedom honoree, Garcia was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She is the first Mexican-American female to head an U.S. college or university when she was named president of Texas Southmost College in 1986. In 2014, she was named Fortune Magazine's World's 50 Greatest Leaders. 

    AGUSTIN PIZÁ

    Recognized in Forbes Magazine's Top 100 inventive minds from Mexico, Pizá is an award-winning architect who has worked on world class golf developments including over 50 projects in three continents. His designs have been noted for their strategy, aesthetics and character around the world. 

    CARMINE GALLO

    Three-time Wall Street Journal Best-Selling author and an internationally popular keynote speaker, Gallo is a Harvard instructor and leadership advisor for the world's most admired brands. His book "The Bezos Blueprint" reveals the communication strategies that Jeff Bezos pioneered to fuel Amazon's astonishing growth.

    jAVIER PRIETO

    Javier is a leading global executive and active social player in both Mexico and the Asia-Pacific region. He is an active member of several community organizations and is the Founder and President of Selider, a national organization that promotes youth leadership in Mexico.
